Surprise!

It is a quiet Sunday evening here in Queensland. Our intended church trip for a combined churches celebration rally tonight was cut short by a very sick little brother who had to be rushed home and to bed. So an unexpected evening has fallen our way. It is cool outside, we are out of church clothes and into homey sloppies. I have ugg boots on my feet, and we are watching Cranford, which Mum bought on sale yesterday. So it is the perfect time to shock [info]gkchestertonand [info]tweedle_deewith an InsaneJournal update. Indeed!

I sent my last assignments off on Friday which means I've survived my very first term of university -- and come out on the other end still loving it, which is good. After working through some of the material, I finally settled on my minor -- actually, a second major: history. So I'm doing a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities majoring in Creative Writing and History. The two go together so beautifully hand-in-hand that I am just relishing every new piece of material I'm required to study or write. I have no idea if I'm on the right track; I've yet to receive most of my assignments back, but I am beginning to find my way and the schedule of study is growing more familiar.

However, it's mid-year holidays now and how I'm excited about that! Any change in routine is always refreshing, and of course the opportunity to not set my alarm a few mornings will also be enjoyed, too. It looks to be a busy few weeks of holidays. There's my mother and brother to pack up and head overseas to join my father for nine months. Stating it so plainly like that sounds very nonchalant, but in actuality this is a big deal for us. We are used to being a "stick-together family"; it will be strange, unfamiliar, and lonely for us to be living in different countries, my sister and I here, and them over the sea. We will be Skyping, emailing, and livejournalling like crazy people, I'm sure.

There's lots of other stuff going on as well. Our church's holiday evangelism program, Totally Hooked, will be running and my sister and I have been asked to assist at the parents' coffee room. Basically, the deal is to make coffee for the parents who have brought their children along, and to engage them in evangelistic conversation. I don't mind confessing that this kind of thing terrifies me a little bit, but it'll be exciting, too.

As well as that, there's the next issue of FourTwelve, the young adults group newsletter, to pull together, and the final issue of Whatsoever Magazine to format and send out. I'm sure it won't be all chained-to-the-keyboard stuff, though. There's a massive pile of books I'd love to read, and I am hanging out for a crafternoon, as well as to catch up with some friends whom I haven't seen in a while. Also, two weddings to attend in the space of one week, numerous letters to write, and lots of engagement and wedding cards and gifts to put in the mail. The love bug has definitely been on a frenzy around here. I counted sixteen of me friends who have either gotten engaged, married, or entered a serious relationship between Christmas and June. Such craziness -- and such joy.

What of you all?

Oh boy.

InsaneJournal has one hundred free userpics and I totally forgot it even existed.

Apparently I am a much better LiveJournaller than an Insane one. Which kind of sounds good.

To: gmail; its brain

Dear Gmail,

Please, please, please stop telling me that there is no limit to the number of times an aluminium can may be recycled. Apparently, there is also no limit to the number of times you may tell me this. I am over it.

Also, I resent your suggestion that I "can make a lovely hat out of previously-used aluminium foil." I just don't believe this. Not one bit of it. The only kind of hat I could make would be a downright creepy one. I think you've watched Signs once too often.

Frustrated,

Danielle

That sound is my brain straining.

This here journal is meant to be my interim account just in case LiveJournal gets sucked into the swirling vortex of the web but... how can I resist a shiny new journal?

Obviously, I can't.

The question, however, is how to use this one. I don't need a personal journal -- that's what LJ's for -- and I already have a public blog. So it remains: what do I do with this one?

I humbly ask the whole Insaniverse for their wisdom.
